April 22, 2020 by @dmin0Maritime Groupage
If you are thinking of moving to your country of origin or have plans to live outside of Spain and will only be taking your personal belongings with you, these brief tips will help you to carry out your sea transfer correctly. More frequent destinations such as Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and the United States require consular procedures and documentation for the import of your belongings.
For this reason it is essential to take the following steps to avoid unforeseen events:
1. Hire a moving company to carry out all the formalities for the collection of the furniture, delivery to the nearest port and preparation of the load for shipment in maritime groupage. It is important that the company is recognized and experienced in the field of international removals.
2. This type of move is recommended for small removals with a maximum volume of 15 m3, this is proportional to about 150 standard size boxes. To verify the real volume of the load, it is necessary to multiply the height, width and length of each thing in meters, that is, if you have 30 boxes of the same size: 0.3 x 0.45 x 0.45 m x 30 units, it is equivalent to 1.8 m3 of volume.
3. The type of packaging of the goods must be appropriate, it is highly recommended that the boxes are double-layered and the contents are plasticized. If you have fragile effects such as crockery, glasses, porcelain, it is essential to make an exhaustive packaging, without skimping on protection. This packing service can be requested from the removal company.
4. For customs formalities, both at origin and at destination, identification documentation and inventory of the goods to be moved is required. In most of the countries of return, they are requested: Copy of the DNI or NIE, passport of the country of destination, copy of the identity document of destination, detailed and valued list of the effects and consular document of voluntary return, this last one requires visiting your nearest consulate. If you are Spanish or European Community citizen, you will need complementary documentation such as the residence and/or work documents of the destination country and additional certificates for each particular case.
5. Finally, we recommend you to request from the moving company, the document required for the import of the goods at destination: Bill of Lading (Manifest of your Cargo). This document contains all the data of the shipping company, container and the information of what you are sending. It is essential to collect the goods on arrival at the port.
